We had the honor of meeting Jose Negron, Sergeant First Class, U.S. Army, Retired, at TPG Golf Performance and Academy, where he received his golf clubs set and first lesson with Jim Ragland. 

A native of Puerto Rico, Jose joined the U.S. Army in November 1982 as a Field Artillery Crewman and served in various leadership positions, including Squad Leader, Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Field First Sergeant, Army Recruiter Field First Sergeant, and lastly, army JROTC Instructor. 

Double Service

During his military career, Jose deployed during Desert Shield and Desert Storm operations, serving as Howitzer Section Chief in an airborne Field Artillery Company. He was responsible for supervising the emplacement, firing, and displacement of the howitzer, in addition to safety and security. His assignments took him to Puerto Rico, Korea, Japan, and Thailand as a member of the 25th Infantry Division.

After twenty-two years in the U.S. Army, Jose continued his calling to serve as a JROTC Army Instructor in West Palm Beach, FL, mentoring young men and women to become better citizens in our community while providing solid military doctrine to assist them in their development and educational achievement. His last post was at the Astronaut High School in Titusville, FL. He retired after nineteen and a half years in June 2023. 

Education and Accolades

Jose's military and civilian education includes the U.S. Army Parachutes School, the U.S. Army Air Assault School, an Instructor Training Course, and a Bachelor of Science from Lynn University, Boca Raton, FL. 

He is a recipient of the U.S. Parachutist, U.S. Army Assault, Expert Marksmanship, Drivers, Recruiter, and Combat badges; Unit Award include Meritorious Service Medal 2 Oak Leaf, Army Commendation Medal 9 Oak Leaf, Army Achievement Medal 10 Oak Leaf, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Service in Southeast Asia Medal, and the U.S. Army Retired Lapel Button. 

Jose has been married to his beautiful wife, Mildred, for over thirty-five years. He is the father of three children, Samantha, Monica, and Nicolas, and the grandfather of six kids, Taina, Amari, Amaya, Leanna, Avery, and Avian. He said, "My biggest joy is my family and the U.S. Army."
