A Special Donation

On February 3, 2025, we had the pleasure of meeting Shirley Munson, Duane B. Munson's wife. She contacted our foundation with the intention of donating her late husband's golf club collection (almost four complete sets.) They were married for nearly fifty-five years and had three children and seven grandchildren.

Duane B. Munson, Ltn. Col. U.S. Army, Retired, served for twenty years, and died last June 10. He was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany, from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam war era. After serving in the reserves and recruiting for West Point, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Mrs. Munson remembers that "Duane played in many golf leagues in Orlando, mostly with other Veterans. Our oldest son said in his eulogy, "Shockingly, I don't think my dad loved golf. What he loved was spending quality hours with his friends with no other distractions." And our daughter said in her eulogy. "There were no strangers to my dad. I can imagine him right now, on the most beautiful course in heaven, golfing with his buddies." Duane won two tickets to The Masters Golf Tournament twenty years ago, and he generously shared those tickets with family and friends. Duane would be thrilled knowing that other Veterans are using his golf clubs."

We salute Mr. and Mrs. Munson for their service to our nation. We will make sure to pass his golf clubs to deserving wounded warriors to honor his memory, fulfilling our mission of empowering disabled and PTSD-diagnosed Military Veterans through the beautiful game of golf.
