New Golf Clubs & Lessons for David Harris, U.S. Air Force Veteran

"I’m David Harris. After proudly serving 21½ years in the U.S. Air Force and retiring in 2019, I found myself searching for a renewed sense of purpose. My journey has carried me from West Virginia to Jacksonville in 2015, where my wife and I are blessed to raise six wonderful kids together.

When I left the military, I realized how much my identity was wrapped up in service. I loved the camaraderie, the clear mission, and the teamwork—but suddenly, it was gone. I felt untethered, uncertain of where I fit next.

I’ve always enjoyed golf on a casual level, but I was never very good—until I decided it was time to lean into it. I longed for a community of people who understood discipline, perseverance, and the value of small victories. That’s when I found **Will of Iron**.

I submitted my application, half-expecting the usual radio silence I’d experienced with other “veteran-focused” groups. To my delight, within 48 hours, I was contacted with clear next steps. Then, I received my own set of clubs and scheduled my very first lesson last Saturday morning, May 24.

My first lesson exceeded every expectation. The instructors’ patience, the camaraderie among fellow veterans, and the sense of purpose I’d been missing all came rushing back. It’s amazing what Will of Iron is doing—and will continue to do—for veterans like me.
