Yesterday, we had the pleasure of meeting U.S. Navy Veteran Ann Poindexter. Originally from Iowa and of Italian descent, Ann moved to Florida in 2002. After being married to a sailor for a couple of years, she joined the U.S. Navy later in life at 28 to experience what she thought was amazing: serving her country and traveling the world. Ann was stationed at Naval Air Station Mayport for eight years as a Master at Arms 3rd class and was assigned to the Harbor Patrol Unit as a Coxswain.

Ann told us that she decided to separate from the “greatest Navy in the world” due to injuries sustained while on duty to spend time pursuing her college education and having a family. In her own words, “I am a mother of three children who absolutely love golf. I am so grateful to the Zellner Foundation for giving me the opportunity to learn the game so I may share the same passion my children have for the sport.

Ann currently works as a Veteran Service Officer for the State of Florida, which allows her to stay in the military community, assisting her brothers and sisters and their families pursuing VA assistance. We salute Ann for her service to our nation and love for the Navy, and we hope to see her kids join our Birdies of Eagles Gold Program.
