March 18, 2025We are thrilled to start Spring 2025 with an incredible Military Wife: Candy Keane. Her husband, Sean Keane, Command Sargeant Major, U.S. Army, Retired, and her son Keelan became beneficiaries of our golf programs last year. Since then, we have been waiting for her to join our team. Candy finally received her new golf set and first private lesson with Chris Yeager at TPG Golf Performance Center at Cimarrone Golf Club.

Candy shared the following bio with us:
"I've been a military wife for 23 years, but because my husband Sean is a Special Forces Green Beret, my experience has been a bit different than it would be with the conventional military. Special Forces teams have an area of operations, and you aren't moved around or need to live on base. But we've always lived near a base, even when Sean did reserve time, and we lived in San Francisco, then San Diego, and finally Jacksonville.
A unique aspect of being an SF wife is dealing with long deployments, usually up to a year, sometimes with long stretches of very little communication. I've been through several of those!
Sean and I met at the University of Florida, where I earned a degree in journalism. I thought I'd be writing for newspapers or magazines, but we were in San Francisco during the Dot Com boom of early 2000, and I started writing for websites instead. I continued web publishing and now write for my blog, www.GeekMamas.com, and several other online publications. I also wrote a children's book about going to ComicCon: I'm Going to My First Comic Con!
For about 10 years, I owned a costume shop in Jacksonville called Three Muses Clothing and made custom costumes. While I don't sell costumes anymore, I still do costuming for fun and often combine my love of writing and cosplay on my blog."
We salute Candy for her service to our nation as a military wife. Men and women in uniform always say that their spouses' strength and patience allow them to focus on the mission because they know their soulmates hold the fort at home.
